A.C. Woman Dies Tuesday

Amanda Ellen Washburn, a resident of this community 47 years, died at her home, 507 S. First St., at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, on her eighty-fourth birthday.

She was born Dec. 20, 1871, at Des Moines, IA. Her parents were Lizza Sickler and Marion Gulick. She was married to Silas Ellsworth Washburn at New London, IA., Sept. 21, 1890. The couple came to this community 47 years ago from Stronghurst, Ill. Mrs. Washburn had been a member of the Church of Christ since the age of 15. Her membership has been carried in recent years in the church of Wellington.

Survivors are four sons, Charles Washburn, 1539 W. Oklahoma Ave., Earl Washburn, Rural Winfield, Arthur Washburn, Salem, Ore., and Walter Washburn, Kenosha, Wis.; nine grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren.

Services will be at Grant-Elder Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Friday with the Rev. Don Swaim officiating. Burial will be in the Geuda Springs cemetery beside her husband, who died in May 1915.
