Wayland -- Mrs. Mary Wittrig, 98, passed away at her home shortly after 2:00 Tuesday afternoon. She would have been 99 on February 24th. She was born in Alsace Lorraine, France, February 14, 1851 and came to this country when a young woman. On March 17, 1870, she was united in marriage to John Wittrig. He and three sons, Will, Henry, and Joseph preceded her in death.

Surviving are the following children: Mrs. Lydia Rittler, who lived with and care for her mother for the last several years, Sam of Washington; David of El Monte, California; John and Ed both of Wayland.

Funeral services are being made by the Zehr Funeral Home. Services will be held at the Wayland Mennonite Church Thursday afternoon at 2:00 with Rev. E. S. Mullett in charge.

Pallbearers will be three nephews: Ezra Wittmer, Wayland; Frank Rich and Vernon Wittrig both of Washington; and three grand nephews, Emerson Wittrig, Wyman; Marlon Anderson, Olds, and Ralph Wenger, Wayland. Burial will be in the Eicher Cemetery north of Noble.
