Richard Burden
Richard Duane Burden, 60, of New London, died at 9:10 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, 1993, at Henry County Health Center, Mount Pleasant.
Born May 23, 1932, in Milford, Neb., he was the son of Floyd and Hazel Schweitzer Burden.
He was baptized at Liberty Mennonite Church, South English. He was a sheet metal worker and also worked as a welder for Saters Blacksmith Shop and as a construction worker for H. Eugene Smith.
Survivors include his parents, of Mount Pleasant; his wife, Charlotte Burden of New London; two sons, Chuck Burden of Snellville, Ga., and Tony Burden of Morning Sun; a daughter, Deborah Wallenburg of Snellville, Ga.; two step-daughters, Barbara Wheeler of West Point and Dorothy Pollpeter of Denmark; five brothers, Lowell Burden and Robert Burden, both of Mt. Pleasant, Kenneth Burden of New London, Bill Burden of Conroe, Texas, and Gary Burden of Morning Sun; a sister, Jean Roth of Mount Pleasant; and 10 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother.
Friends may call as they desire at Beatty Funeral Home, Mount Pleasant where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight.
The funeral for Mr. Burden will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Beatty Funeral Home with the Rev. Glen Richard officiating. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for the American Cancer Society.
