John D. Nugen of New London
New London, Ia., March 17 - John D. Nugen died at his home in this city Sunday evening about 8 o'clock after a little over two weeks' illness with heart disease, at the age of seventy - eight years. Mr. Nugen was born in Indiana on August 1, 1835. When five years of age his parents moved to Iowa and located on a farm west of this city. His occupation was that of a farmer and he had devoted his entire life to it. For the past six years he has lived in New London.
On December 15, 1859, Mr. Nugen was married to Margaret Ferrel; who preceded him in death, December 4, 1911. To them ten children were born, eight of whom survive him, as follows: Mrs. Emma E. Ridgon, Nampa, Idaho; David J., Murray, Iowa; John P., New London; Bert, of Denmark. His also survived by three brothers and three sisters, Masdames J.C. Nugen, S.J. Pierson and J.M. Ferrel; Jaret, Dave and Columbus Nugen, all of this city. Also, eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
