Lloyd Prior
Lloyd F. Prior, 93, of Columbus Junction, died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2007, at Colonial Manor Care Center in Columbus Junction.

Born Dec. 11, 1913, in Crawfordsville, he was the son of Franklin E. and Alice Leasure Prior. On Dec. 31, 1935 he married Marjorie L. Hall in rural Louisa County. She died in June 2003.

Mr. Prior worked at the local Farm Service and Columbus Community Schools driving and managing buses and caring for the school grounds. He was a farmer until 1970. He was a member of the Spring Run United Methodist Church, Cedar Crest Country Club, Columbus Junction Jaycees and Columbus Athletic Boosters. He was a Hawkeye and Cubs fan. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting and attending Columbus School sports events. He also enjoyed fox hunting and shooting the first wolf in Louisa County.

Survivors include four sons, Harold Prior, Larry Prior and Marvin Prior, all of Columbus Junction, and Michael Prior of Winfield; 14 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, one grandson and one brother.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Columbus Junction.

The funeral for Mr. Prior will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Catherine Whitlatch officiating. Burial will be in the Columbus City Cemetery.

A memorial has been established.
