MRS. ORVILLA BARR DIES
Passed Away At Home Of Daughter Mrs. Meeker.
Funeral Was Held Sunday at Winfield and Interment There. Husband Died in 1898. Leaves Number of Children.

Mrs. Orvilla Barr, one of the oldest and most respected residents of henry County, died at the home of her son-in-law and daughter , Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Meeker, on Saturday morning, September 29, 1923, at one o'clock. She had been sick for many months, but bore her trials with Christian patience and fortitude. Her maiden name was Orvilla M. Spring. She was born in Braceville, Trumbull County, Ohio, August 7, 1837. At the age of six she removed to Bellevue, Michigan. She came to Iowa in 1859. July 24, 1859 she and Erastus Ives were united in marriage at Bellevue. One child Lucy E. Ives, was born to them July 16, 1860. Mr. Ives passed away July 10, 1861. September 27, 1865, she and Mr. John Barr became husband and wife. He passed away September 30, 1898. To their union eight children were born, Samuel H. died at the age of five months, Mary Philena who died at the age of twelve years, and Lauren Leslie who died at the age of eleven months. ??siephene Knickerbocker of Elbow Lake, Minn., Will, Frank, Nelson and Bessie, all of Henry County, Iowa, remain to mourn. They have the sympathy of many old friends and neighbors in their sorrow.

Mrs. Barr was a quiet, home loving woman, a faithful wife and mother, and a good neighbor. She passed to her reward in the triumphs of faith in Christ Jesus.

Funeral services were held at the home in this city Sunday afternoon at one o'clock at the Methodist church, Winfield at two-thirty o'clock. Pastors Frank Weston and Jas. A. Wilson were in charge. Interment was in the Winfield cemetery.
