Charlotte Alena Stewart, 65, of New London, died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2007, at Henry County Health Center.

Born Aug. 17, 1942, in Indianola, she was the daughter of Frank and Helen Butterfield Blake. On Sept. 28, 1985, she married James A. Stewart in New London.

Mrs. Stewart worked for Pittsburg/Des Moines Steel in Des Moines and for Iowa Department of Corrections in Mount Pleasant for 20 years. She was a 1960 graduate of Indianola High School and a graduate of American Institute of Business in Des Moines. She was Christian. She enjoyed gardening and shopping.

Survivors include her husband; one daughter, Robin Hinshaw of Des Moines; two stepsons, Timothy J. Stewart of Austin, Texas, and Michael Stewart of San Marcus, Texas; two stepdaughters, Cara McGowin of Jefferson City, Mo., and Paula Ortunio of Wimbly, Texas; and 10 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Elliott Chapel, where family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m.

The funeral for Mrs. Stewart will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Elliott Chapel, with the Rev. Rod Cooper officiating. Burial will be in Burge Cemetery in New London.

A memorial has been established for Susan G. Komen Cancer Fund.
