Dorothy Earnest

Dorothy I. Earnest, 90, of Mesa, Ariz., formerly of New London, died Sunday, Nov. 1, 1998, in Mesa.

Born March 27, 1908, in New London, she was the daughter of Leonard and Mabel Enslow Wallar. She married Robert Xenaphon Earnest on Feb. 14, 1930, in New London. He died Feb. 21, 1993.

Mrs. Earnest was a homemaker.

She was a lifetime member of the Presbyterian Church in New London, a member of Eastern Star, Garden Club, Ricordo Club and Dorcas Circle and was a volunteer at Old Threshers. She received the honor of being named Iowa State Master Homemaker.

Survivors include two daughters, Ruth A. Breuer of Normal, Ill., and Roberta I. Rickey of Colorado Springs, Colo.; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one sister, Kathleen Wallar of Mesa, Ariz.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will begin at noon Friday at Elliott Chapel in New London, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

The funeral for Mrs. Earnest will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Presbyterian Church in New London, with Pastor Tom Henstock officiating. Burial will be in Burge Cemetery, New London.

Memorials have been established for New London Presbyterian Church and Old Threshers.
