Lawrence Schrepfer
Lawrence Edward Schrepfer, 81, of Mount Pleasant, died Friday, Oct. 3, 2003, at Veterans Administration Hospital in Iowa City.
Born Oct. 7, 1922, in Hillsboro, he was the son of Ralph and Hazel Pfeifer Schrepfer. On Oct. 7, 1942, he married Alberta Blakeley in Kahoka, Mo.
Mr. Schrepfer farmed and raised turkeys and later worked at construction and carpentry. He was a 1940 graduate of Salem High School. He was a Navy Seabee in World War II and served in the Pacific. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and was especially known for his skilled woodworking and ability to fix antiques.
Survivors include his wife; two brothers, Gilbert Schrepfer of Bonaparte, and Stanton Schrepfer of Fort Madison, and one sister, Verda Krabill of Donnellson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, one brother and one sister.
Visitation will be from noon until 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Beatty Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, where the family will receive friends at 10 a.m. Wednesday, one hour prior to the service.
The funeral for Mr. Schrepfer will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Beatty Funeral Home with the Rev. Tom Palmer officiating. Military honors will follow. Burial will be at a later date in Winfield Scott Cemetery.
A memorial has been established.
