Alma Cornwell
Alma G. Cornwell, 84, of Henry County Health Center in Mount Pleasant, formerly of Burlington, died at 515 P.M. Wednesday, May 15, 1996, at the health center.
Born March 26, 1912, in Wyman, she was the daughter of John J.T. and Alma Cora Roberts Rickey. She married Orval Francis Cornwell on July 6, 1929, in Mount Pleasant. He died Aug. 1, 1969.
Mrs. Cornwell was a graduate of Wyman High School. She worked as a bookkeeper for Benner Tea Co., retiring in 1974, and managed Voyager Inn in Burlington from 1974 to 1979.
Survivors include three sons, Earl E. Cornwell of Owasso, Okla., Richard D. Cornwell of Grove, Okla., and Donald J. Cornwell of Burlington; two daughters, Joyce E. Becker and Karen J. Pleasant, both of Burlington; one sister, Marjorie Fullerton of Washington; 19 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, one sister, two grandchildren and three great-granchildren.
Friends may call after 9 a.m. Sunday in Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m.
The funeral for Mrs. Cornwell will be 130 p.m. Monday in Lunning Chapel, with the Rev. Carl Engstrom officiating. Burial will be in Winfield Scott Cemetery, Winfield.
A memorial has been established for American Kidney Foundation.
