William Sylvester Millspaugh Sr one of the oldest residents of Henry County passed away at 1:50a.m
June 2, 1926 at his home west of Rome.He had been in failing health for several years.

He was born Oct 22, 1844 in Shelby County Ohio. His parents were Harvey and Ann Kyle Millspaugh.
The Millspaugh family came to Henry Co Iowa in 1856 settling on a farm along Big Cedar Creek three miles south of Rome.
It was while living with his family on their farm
south of Rome that he was converted and along with his sister Elizabeth and eleven other people was baptized in Big Cedar Creek in March of 1865.
On the day of the baptism the ice was 16 inches thick. The Millspaughs became members of the Round Prairie Baptist Church. William later joined the Baptist Church at Rome of which he had been a faithful member for over sixty years when he passed away.
Mr Millspaugh moved in 1865 to his farm west of Rome. For many years he was in the milling business in connection with whatwas known as the
Star Mills located on the Skunk river, which flowed through Mr Millspaugh's farm.He was known for his honesty and integrity as a businessman.
He married Mary Julia Rivey on January 28 1885.
He is survied by his wife Mary and six children, Ethel Schaeffer,Charles W,Peter H, William S Jr, Jessie Ruth Paule,and Roy C. and seven grandchildren, one brother Thomas Millspaugh of Heppener Oregon and one sister Electa Millspaugh along with many other friends and relatives.
He was preceeded in death by a daughter Jennie R
.
Funeral services were held at 2p.m. Friday June 4 at The Rome Baptist Church with the Rev Frank. E Weston pastor of the Rome Baptist Church officiating assited by Rev Vanderpool pastor of the Baptist Churches at Lockridge and Round Prairie. Interment was in the Oakland Mills Cemetery.
