WILLIAM LANE The funeral of William Lane, who passed away at his home one and a half miles west of Trenton was held on Thursday morning, March 16th, 1911 at 10:30 o'clock. He was born in Muskingham County, Ohio, June 9th 1840 and died, after a lingering illness, Tuesday March 14th, 1911, aged 70 years, 9 months, and 5 days. He came to Iowa when a child. May 24th, 1865, he and Louisa Goodnow were united in wedlock. He leaves a widow one son, four daughters and one sister to mourn his loss. He was one of nine children of Abraham and Elizabeth Lane. His surviving sister is Mrs. E.J. Roth. For about two years he had been a sufferer with paralysis, bearing his sufferings uncomplainingly. He often spoke of his death and of his willingness to go. The Funeral services were held in the Green Mound Chapel conducted by Frank E. Weston, pastor of the First Baptist Church, Mt. Pleasant. The text was 1. Cor. 15:22. The local church choir sang. There was a large attendance of friends and neighbors. The interment was in the Green Mound cemetery. The deceased was a good neighbor and friend one who filled well his station in life. His bereaved family, who deeply appreciate the sympathy and kindness of their friends and neighbors in their hour of sorrow have the heartfelt grief of many in their affliction.

I transcribed this from a clipping found in Lucy Lane Hollems bible. I do not know Lucy's relationship to William, Lucy was my great great grandmother. The publication's name and date was not on the clipping.
