Funeral services for Max Alter, who was accidentally drowned Friday evening was held Monday afternoon at the Baptist church, and was largely attended by relatives and friends.

Mrs. Rachel Wormhoudt, pastor of the church had charge of the services. Mrs. Mary Hoover and Ruby Scarff sang: "Above the Bright and Blue" and "Good Night Here, but Good Morning Up There." Margaret Lanferman played the accompaniment.

The pall bearers were Arlo Huhphrey, Jesse and Herman Watson of Salem, Freeman Messer, Orville Dold and Alva Sammons. Interment was in the Grant cemetery.

Besides his parents, Mr. and Mrs. T.E. Alter, he leaves the following brothers and sisters to mourn: James of Elko, Nev., Etacie of Round Mountain, Nev., Mrs. W.F. Toole of Pittsburg, Calif., Crystal of Ottumwa, Mrs. Ross Garmoe of Glasgow and Lucy at home.
