Ethel Marie Christner, 91, of Wayland, died Thursday, July 19, 2001, at Parkview Home in Wayland.

Born Aug. 18, 1909, she was the daughter of Axel E. and Cora Sammons Anderson. On Feb. 24, 1927, she married Samuel J. Christner in Henry County. He died in 1994.

Mrs. Christner farmed with her husband in the Mount Union and Wayland area.

She was a resident of Parkview Home for eight years. She was a member of Wayland United Methodist Church New Life Parish. She enjoyed crafts, knitting, crocheting and making quilts for her family.

Survivors include two daughters, Rozena Wyse of Washington and Georganna Tschantz of Decatur, Ill.; seven grandchildren; 16 grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one infant son and one son-in-law.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. today at Beatty Funeral Home in Wayland, where the family will receive friends from 3 until 4 p.m.

The funeral for Mrs. Christner will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Wayland Methodist Church in Wayland, with the Rev. Kenneth J. Hartman officiating. Burial will be in Green Mound Cemetery.

Memorials have been established for Wayland Methodist Church, Parkview Home or Hospice of Washington County.
