WIDMER, George, 71, Iowa City, died December 12, 1997 at his residence following a brief illness.

George W. Widmer was born Feb. 22, 1926 in Wayland to Daniel and Viola (Wyse) Widmer. He graduated from Wayland High School and married ALta Stutzman on June 27, 1954 at the East Union Mennonite Church in Kalona.

Survivors include: his wife, Alta; a son Brad Widmer of Parnell; two daughters, Brenda Troyer, of Wooster, Ohio, and Lori Clark of Coralville; nine grandchildren; a sister, Vernelda Slagel of Wayland; four brothers, Dale Widmer of Mount Pleasant, Willard WIdmer, Wes WIdmer and Stan Widmer, all of Washington; two sisters in-law; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers.
