Marlene Drummond, 55, of Mount Pleasant, died Monday, Jan. 16, 2006, at Henry County Health Center in Mount Pleasant.

Born Dec. 19, 1950, in Mount Pleasant, she was the daughter of Dale and Ellen Roth Clark. On July 14, 1973, she married Floyd Drummond in Wayland.

Mrs. Drummond first was a cook for the Iron Kettle in Mount Pleasant. She moved to Des Moines and cooked for Hickman Manor. As she moved with her husband while he served in the military, she cooked for various nursing homes in the San Diego and the Silverdale, Wash., area. After her husband retired, they returned to Mount Pleasant, where she was a cook for the Congregate Meals and a cashier at Wal–Mart.

She was a 1969 graduate of WACO High School and a 1970 graduate of Iowa Technical School in Ottumwa with a degree in culinary arts. She enjoyed cooking. She also liked flowers. She enjoyed watching television, especially the Animal Planet Channel.

Survivors include her husband; one son, Matthew Drummond of Mount Pleasant; one daughter, Melissa Drummond of Mount Pleasant; her mother of Wayland; and two brothers, Gary Clark of Williamsburg and Kevin Clark of Wayland.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday at Olson–Powell Memorial Chapel in Mount Pleasant, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

The funeral for Mrs. Drummond will be at 10:30
