Audra "Jo" McNierney, 89, of Longmont, Colo., died Sept. 9, 2005, at Hospice Care of Boulder and Broomfield Counties Care Center in Louisville, Colo., surrounded by her family. She was born June 17, 1916, on the family farm in Henry County, Iowa, to Tony and Blanche (Kester) Jones. She graduated from Salem High School in Salem, Iowa, and attended business college in Chillicothe, Mo.

Audra met Tom McNierney in Chillicothe, and she married him on Feb. 9, 1946. She worked as a private secretary to the president of a brokerage firm in Burlington, Iowa. She moved to Longmont with her family in 1963, where she lived until her death.

Audra was a full-time mother, yet still had time to work as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels for 25 years, and for Tiny Tim School. She was active in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Longmont.

She is survived by her husband, Tom of Longmont; son Michael McNierney of Greeley, Colo.; daughter Theresa and husband Ron Essex of Colorado Springs, Colo.; son Patrick McNierney and wife Peggy Hougardy of Ballard, Wash.; and one grandson, Joel McNierney, and one granddaughter, Jessica McNierney, both of Boulder, Colo.

Audra was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Wayne, Freddie and Kay, and her niece, Sandra Love.

Services were held Sept. 14 in Longmont. Cremation was held.
