Jennie M. Kauffman, 71, passed away Saturday evening July 30, 1960 at the Memorial Hospital, Mt. Pleasant, where she had been a patient the past six days.

Jennie M. Greene was born on September 26, 1888 in Louisa County, the daughter of George and Martha Whistler Greene. On March 28, 1917 she was married to Homer Kauffman at Burlington.

She was a member of the Methodist Church and a charter member and past matron of the Wayland Order of Eastern Star.

Survivors include her husband, Homer; one daughter, Jane, Mrs. Robert Bontrager of Fairfield, two grandchildren, Gregory and Jennifer Bontrager; on sister, Mrs. Eva Dayton, Iowa City; three brothers, Bailey of Spokane, Washington, Fred of Ogden, Utah, and T. C. of Des Moines; as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

Services were held Tuesday afternoon August 2, at the Wayland Methodist Church at 1 P.M. with Rev. Frew W. Marton and Rev. J. J. Prtichard in charge. Casket bearers were Everett Monson, Ralph Stuart, George A. Brooks, Ethan Brooks, Allen Wenger, and Andy Tschantz. Interment was in the Wayland Cemetery.
