The following clipping taken from the Chicago Tribune will be of interest to Mt. Pleasant people as Miss Beckwith’s mother was Miss Jessie Lincoln and a granddaughter of Senator Harlan and is well known here.

Washington, D.C. Jan 29 – A great-granddaughter of Abraham Lincoln has offered her services as a volunteer worker to the committee on public information and will act as the representative of the woman’s war work division of the committee in Cuba.
The woman is Miss M.L. Beckwith, granddaughter of President Lincoln’s son Robert Lincoln. Miss Beckwith recently left Washington to spend some months in Cuba and while there she will collect material relating to the war work being carried on by the women in Cuba.

The information so gathered will be given to the public through the woman’s war work division of the committee on public information.
