THE MENNONITES.
New Arrival of Families from Russia.
We are pleased to notice the arrival of several families of Mennonites from southern Russia, who are now stopping in Mt. Pleasant, induced hither by the recommendations of our excellent townsman, Cornelius Jansen, and his family. Some of them will go on westward in the Spring; some we hope remain permanent citizens of our county. There are in all sixty-nine persons, and they represent in the aggregate a large amount of property. We are indebted to Mr. Twinting for a list of their names:
Mrs. Claassen, a widow, with two sons and one daughter.
Abraham Claassen with wife and four children.
Peter Dueck, with wife and three children.
Bernhard Regier and wife.
Jacob Regier and wife.
John Thim, with wife and two children.
Franz Thim, with wife and one child.
Gerhard Faast and wife.
Wm. Franz, with wife and two children.
Two brothers Faast.
F. Rempel, with wife and two children.
M. Thim and wife with three daughters and one son.
