WIDE-AWAKE FROM SCOTT TOWNSHIP.
Winfield, Henry County, Iowa,
April 30th, 1866.Mr. Editor: A few lines in your Journal if you please. The citizens of Scott have concluded to erect their Soldiers' Monument - now completed at the shop of C.B. Minshall & Co. of Mt. Pleasant - on the 24th day of May 1866. It will be put up under military honors, by the returned soldiers of the township. The citizens will make them an ample dinner, also for the Military Band, the Orator of the occasion, and the Editor of the Journal, if he comes.
The services of the Rev. Mr. Pickett, are hereby solicited as Orator.
