An important meeting of the delegates from various cemeteries over the county was held at the courthouse recently and a permanent organization was formed to be known as the League of Henry County Cemeteries Association, with Mr. J.T. Chandler acting as president and Wade McBeth as secretary of the association. An executive committee composed of the two above named men and Mr. Tom Clements of New London was also appointed.

The object of the organization is the perpetuation and upkeep of the county cemeteries and the executive committee is expected to meet with the board of supervisors to talk over any difficulties arising in regard to the cemeteries.

Those who acted as delegates from the several communities were Chester Elliott, Lambirth; C.S. Collins, Pleasant Point; Mrs. E.N. Jordan, Oakland; R.W. Swailes, Grant; John Bates, Richwoods; Wm. Messer, White Oak; Wade McBeth, Green Mound; C.E. Carnahan, Hickory Grove; D.A. Pierson, Burge; Adolph Totemeier, Farrall; Frank Francy, Bethany; J.T. Chandler, Pleasant Hill. There were also several others present not acting as delegates who were interested in the meeting.
