Another of the old landmarks of college days of twenty-five years ago is gone. The old Roper house, corner Main and Pearl, has been sold by the college to H. H. Hills who is moving it to a lot on State Street where it will be fitted up for a residence. Twenty-five years ago it and the Grey home, just south, were the fraternity centers of the town. Then there were but two frats on the campus, the Betas, who had their headquarters in the Roper residence, and the Phi Delts, who had their headquarters in the Grey club. These residences were filled with young men roomers. The Grey residence was torn down and now the Roper residence is moved away. The college now owns all the frontage in that block on Main and Pearl streets aside from that connected with the Al Virden property at the corner of Broadway and Pearl.
