Approximately 70 members of the Herman and Ann Lester Mathews family attended the 125th Herman Mathews's family reunion in the Danville Community Center Sept. 15.
Herman Mathews lived in the Wolcott, N.Y., area from 1810 until he headed west after 1830. Listed in the 1840 census of Lee County, he and wife, Ann, then lived in Lowell where he built a dam in the Skunk River that would power a wood and grist mill. From there, they moved to Danville.
The descendants of their children, Francis, Jesse, David, Henry Clay, Mary Ann, and Lizzie were at the 125th reunion.
The 126th Herman Mathews family reunion is planned for September 2008.
