FARMER HANGS SELF IN GARAGE
Edward Earnest, 37, committed suicide by hanging in a garage on his farm seven miles northwest of Mt. Pleasant about 10 A.M. Monday. His body was found by his daughter, Carol, 12, around noon Monday.
Deputy Sheriff Russell Van Tuyl and Deputy Coroner Hugh Dallner were called and went to the farm. They found Earnest hanging by a rope from a rafter in the garage, his feet touching the floor. He apparently had stood on a small piece of round wood and rolled it from under him.
The act was blamed on despondency over ill health. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Earnest who reside near Edward’s farm. Also surviving, besides his daughter, is Earnest’s wife, who has been ill for many years.
The body was taken to the Cookes funeral home where funeral arrangements are pending.
