I could not find anything on Henry as an artist, but I did find that a Henry George was part of a group of men who "banded together for mutual protection" against claim jumpers. I found this in Joe H. Smith's 1888 book "History of Harrison County, Iowa."

In that same book I found that a Henry George was "wounded at Terra Noir Creek, April 4, 1864, and transferred to V. R. C, and died on his way home." I believe V. R. C. stands for Veterans Reserve Corps.

These two references may not be to the same person and, of course, may not refer to your ancestor. If I find anything else, I will post it.
