1860 artist

My ancestor, Henry George, lived in Harrison County.
He is listed as an artist in the 1860 census and on his Civil War draft registration. We have no idea what he did. Was he a china painter, illustrator, or maybe a sign painter? Any information you might direct me would be great. Thank you for all the work you do.
