Myron Eldred Varland was born at Radcliffe, Iowa Feb. 23, 1912 to Emil and Sena (Stensland) Varland.

He received his education in the Radcliffe Community school. He enlisted in the Army Signal Corps Sept. 9, 1942 and received his discharge Jan. 15, 1946 as a Technician 5th grade after serving for three years and four months.

He was united in marriage with Alcha B. Brown on April 19, 1947 at Brisbane, Australia.

Mr. Varland resided in Radcliffe until 1956 and then moved to Williams where the family resided until November, 1975 when they moved back to Radcliffe. He was a farmer his entire life.

The deceased was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran church in Radcliffe. In Williams he was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

He died Friday, May 21 at the Ellsworth Municipal Hospital in Iowa Falls, after reaching the age of 64 years, two months and 28 days.

He leaves to mourn his wife, Alcha, one daughter, Pamela Ann Varland, Eagan, Minn.; two brothers, Richard Varland of Ames and LuVerne Varland of Radcliffe; his step-mother, Mrs. Elmyra Varland, one step-brother, Dean Kumrow of Radcliffe.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Robert and one sister, Dorothy.

Burial was made in the Radcliffe cemetery.
