Arlyn Eness, 82, of Iowa Falls, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2014, at the Hansen Family Hospital, Iowa Falls, under the care of Care Initiatives Hospice; following a courageous battle with lung and esophageal cancer. Funeral services for Arlyn Eness will be at 10:30 am Monday, July 28, 2014 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 313 Lee Lane, Iowa Falls, Iowa. A time of visitation will be from 2:00 to 5:00 pm Sunday, July 27th at Linn's Funeral Home, 1521 Washington Avenue, Iowa Falls. Burial will be at the Concord Township Cemetery, Garner, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to the Immanuel Lutheran Church or to the family c/o of his wife: Carolyn Eness, 2106 Floyd Avenue, Iowa Falls, Iowa 50126.
Arlyn Everett Eness was born on October 28, 1931 at Forest City, Iowa, as the youngest son of Thomas O. and Bertha M. [Chentland] Eness. He was baptized September 2, 1932, and confirmed on April 14, 1946. He attended country school through the second grade and then attended the Garner, Iowa, Community Schools. He graduated with the class of 1949. He went to work for the C. J. Schneider Hardware, Plumbing, and Heating in Garner until 1963, when he became the Maintenance Engineer for the Garner Community Schools. In 1966 he took employment with Iowa Electric Light and Power working as an electrical and gas mechanic for 30 years; retiring in 1996. On August 4, 1973 Arlyn was united in marriage to Carolyn Lee Reninger at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Mason City, Iowa. To this union three children were born: Debra, Sarah, and Brian. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Iowa Falls, where he served as an usher and sang in the choir for many years. He volunteered at the church and throughout the community. He enjoyed antique cars, boating, bowling, camping, and carpentry (especially improvement projects around the house).

Arlyn Eness is survived by his wife: Carolyn Eness of Iowa Falls. his children: Debra [Ross] Jendro of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Sarah [Keith] Gunderson of Iowa City, Iowa, Brian [Rebecca] Eness of Waverly, Iowa; five grandchildren; one sister: Bernice Eness of Garner, Iowa; two sister-in-laws: Karen Eness of Park Ridge, Illinois, Joan Eness of Clear Lake, Iowa, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents: Thomas and Bertha Eness; his sister: Judy [Roscoe] McKinney; three brothers: John Eness, Orville Eness, Vergil Eness.
