Ardis L. Ash, 84, of 3630 E Ave NW, passed away peacefully, January 26, 2005, following an extended illness, in her home, surrounded by her family. Services at 11 AM Saturday in Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Rev. Clinton Jeffers and Rick Pruisman will officiate. Inurnment in the Alden, Iowa cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Friday and at the chapel after 10:30 AM on Saturday.
Ardy lived with her daughter Vikki Blomme and their four-legged family Sadee, Jake, Scooter, Minnie Moo & Molly. Ardy’s special four legged friends were Wiggles, Sophie, Callee, and Keke Dee.
Also surviving is her son Richard Bennett (Lorrie) of Elkhart, Indiana, and a step-daughter Barbara “Tobi” Warren of Cedar Rapids. Her grandchildren are Kelli Warren, Chris Warren and Richie Bennett all of Cedar Rapids, and Robert C. Dee III (Amanda) of Mount Vernon, Iowa. Robert’s son Ethan Thomas Dee is a great grandchild. Her extended family Bob and Debbie Dee and their children Don Dee and Kim Boston.
Ardy was born November 19, 1920 in Dows, Iowa to Richard and Henrietta (Carr) Bessman. She graduated from Dows High School in 1938. She went on to graduate from Cedar Falls, Iowa Teachers College. While teaching in the Dows area she was married to Merle Bennett. She later married George Streeter and moved to Cedar Rapids in 1956. She also married Millard Ash. They all preceded her in death. Also passing away before her were her parents and a son Ronald Bennett.
Ardy retired from Great Plains Gas Co in 1986 after over 25 years. She enjoyed cheering for the Great Plains Bowling Teams. She was involved with many functions at the Covington Church, which was also one of her great pleasures.
She is loved by family and friends and will be greatly missed.
A memorial fund has been established.
