NEW PROVIDENCE—Helen G. Clampitt, 82, of New Providence died Monday, Feb. 21, 2005, at Oakview Care Center in Conrad. Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 23, at Honey Creek New Providence Friends Church in New Providence with Arlen Daleske and Lloyd McDonald officiating. Interment will follow in Honey Creek Cemetery. Boeke Funeral Homes of Hubbard is in charge of arrangements.

Helen Clampitt was born Sept. 23, 1922, in Green City, Mo. She was the only daughter of three children born to Sigel and Lula (Downing) Cornmesser. She moved to Iowa with her family in 1937. Helen graduated from New Providence High School with the class of 1940. She was united in marriage to D. Dean Clampitt on Jan. 1, 1943, in New Providence. She was Dean’s partner in the farming business, helping with the fieldwork, record keeping, lawn mowing, leaf raking and cared for the laying hens. She and Dean remained on Dean’s family farm south of New Providence until they both moved to Conrad in May 2004. Helen enjoyed spending time with friends and family, and sewing, reading, gardening and canning and loved ISU basketball and football games. She was an active member of the Honey Creek New Providence Friends Church and the Honey Creek USFW.

Helen is survived by her three children, Leslie and wife Kay of New Providence, Jean Gunderson and husband Lynn of Hudson, Wis., and Harris Clampitt of Worthington, Minn.; brother Robert Cornmesser and wife Mary of Indiana; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; along with many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Dean; brother Jerry Cornmesser and his wife, Mary; and sister-in-law Reba Martin.
