HAMPTON - Shirley Mae Rechkemmer, 73, of Hampton died Sunday, Dec. 21, 2003, at the Franklin General Hospital in Hampton. Funeral services will be Wednesday, Dec. 24, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Hampton with Rev. Marlys Ruth officiating. Burial will be at the Hampton Cemetery in Hampton.
Shirley was born June 11, 1930, in Morrison to Earl and Jenny (Miller) Gallaher. She was raised in the Fayette area and graduated from Fayette High School and Iowa State College. On Sept. 10, 1950, Shirley was united in marriage to William Rechkemmer at Fayette. She was employed by the Department of Transportation, drivers license office. Shirley was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ, where she was active in the women's fellowship group. Traveling and collecting Hummels and angels were among her favorites.
Survivors include her husband, William, of Hampton; one daughter, Vicki Myer, of Alburquerque, N.M.; one brother, Wally Gallaher of Arvada, Colo.; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents.
