OWASA - Ralph W. Tietz, 84, of Owasa died Sunday, Sept. 7, 2003, at Ellsworth Municipal Hospital in Iowa Falls. Funeral services will be Friday, Sept. 12, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Eldora with Pastor David Splett officiating. Burial will be in the Eldora City Cemetery. Visitation is Thursday, Sept. 11, from 5-8 p.m. at Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora with the family present from 5-7 p.m.

Ralph was born March 31, 1919, in rural Eldora to Charles and Anna Marie (Schwebke) Tietz. He graduated from Owasa High School in 1937. Ralph resided in Jackson Township for the majority of his life, where he was a grain farmer and raised Angus cattle. He was an avid fan of Iowa State University athletic events in addition to the Minnesota Twins. Ralph was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.

Survivors include two sisters Lou Doering and husband Harry of Iowa Falls and Norma Ostrem of Eldora, and many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents; brother-in-law Virgil Ostrem; and one nephew, Ronald Doering.
