ELDORA - Bob Rogers, 82, of Eldora, formerly of Liscomb, died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2003, at Eldora Nursing and Rehab Center in Eldora. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Sept. 6, at 10:30 a.m. at Pursel-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory in Marshalltown. Interment will be in the Liscomb Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 9 a.m. until service time at the funeral home with the family present.

Bob was born on April 29, 1921, in Marshall County to Victor and Marie (Botts) Rogers. Raised and educated in the Liscomb area, he graduated from Liscomb High School in 1939. On June 14, 1941, Bob was united in marriage to Mary Cook in Kirksville, Mo., and following their marriage, served in the U.S. Army during WW II. He farmed in the Liscomb area and worked at the Iowa State Boys Training School in Eldora for 10 years. In 1973, they moved to New Mexico where Bob was employed as caretaker for the vice-president of CBS. Returning to Eldora in 1985, Bob kept active as a member of Roll-Harless Post No. 3974 of the VFW in Eldora and Liscomb Post No. 87 of the American Legion.

Survivors include his wife, Mary; one son, Craig, and wife Laurie of Rockford, Ill.; a daughter-in-law, Betty Rogers, of Eldora; one brother, Jerry, and wife Mary of Union; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Kent.
