Ronnie Christensen, 70, passed away on March 6, 2013 at Bright Kavanagh House surrounded by his family. Services will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Hamilton's on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines. Visitation will be held one hour prior. Burial will be in Sunset Cemetery in Des Moines.

Ron was born on December 17, 1942 in Iowa City and attended school in Audubon, IA. He married Kay on October 24, 1965 and they lived in Perry and Iowa Falls. Ron was a hard worker from the start. He began working as a milkman carrying two cans of milk in each hand, and then at Oscar Mayer. He later became a truck driver for various organizations, but worked for Super Value for 28 years, retiring in 2001. After retirement he worked for DART as a bus driver. Ron was a devoted and loving husband, dad and grandpa. He was always first to lend a helping hand on the road. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Viola Jergensen and his grandparents, Emma and Albert Umland.

Ron is survived by his wife, Kay; children, Dwayne (Tina) Christensen, Cherie (Robb) Weeter, and Kim Christensen; grandchildren, Mackenzie Weeter, Kayleigh and Ashland Christensen; brother, Jr. Christensen; sister, Judy (Lloyd) Swensen; and numerous other family members.
