Ryan, Ia. - Special: Funeral services for Dr. John C. Eckstein, 54, were held here Wednesday morning at St. Patrick's Church with the Rev. Patrick Molloy, pastor, celebrating the requiem mass. The Right Rev. Monsignor D. V. Foley of Dubuque and the Very Rev. M. J. Martin, present of Loras College Dubuque, assisted at the service. The Manchester Legion Post also took part in the service.

The body was taken to Hubbard for burial.

Dr. Eckstein, local physician and surgeon, died Saturday at the Veterans Hospital in Des Moines following a long illness.

A native of Muscoda, Wis., Dr. Eckstein practiced medicine in Ryan for many years. He was a veteran of World War I.

Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Anna Eckstein of Ryan; one son John, an aviation cadet stationed at Sheppard Field, Texas, and one brother Cody Eckstein, a Maryknoll missionary stationed in China.

His wife who died several years ago is buried in Hubbard.
