ACKLEY- Irene R. Ubben, 84, of Ackley, died Monday, June 4, 2001, at the Dumont Care Center. Services will be held Wednesday, June 6 at 10:30 a.m. at the Austinville Christian Reformed Church in Austinville with burial in the Austinville Cemetery. Rev. George McGuire will officiate.
Irene was born Feb. 18, 1917, on a farm east of Austinville to Rykus and Lizzie Harken Rykena. She graduated from Aplington High School in 1934 and on Feb. 9, 1939 she married Theodore Ubben at the Little Brown Church at Nashua. She and her husband farmed southwest of Dumont for two years then moved to west of Austinville. She was a homemaker and a member of the Aplington Christian Reformed Church; Tops of Ackley; and Get Off Your Rocker in Aplington.
She is survived by two sons,Thomas and wife, Sharon, of Aplington and Dale and wife, Lori, of Ackley; a daughter, Marilyn LaPiere of Ridgeland, Miss.; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Theodore in 1974.
Sietsema Funeral Home of Ackley is in charge of arrangements.
