ACKLEY-Albert Leo Pfeifer, 98, of Ackley, died Monday, April 17, 2000, at the home of his daughter in Des Moines. Services will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Ackley, on Monday, April 24 at 11 a.m. with internment at Cloquet, Minn.

Bert was born March 17, 1902, in Sturgeon Lake, Minn. In 1934 he married Lena Zacher and they owned the Green Top Tavern in Sawyer, Minn., for 33 years. After the death of his wife, Bert moved to Ackley in 1973 to be closer to his family, and continued there until moving to his daughter's home in 1998. He was a devoted member of the Catholic church, a lifetime member of the Moose Lodge and past Governor of Lodge No. 1274, Cloquet, Minn. He enjoyed people and visiting with his many friends and caregivers.

Survivors include a daughter, Helen Nymeyer of Des Moines; son-in-law Marlyn Nymeyer of Ackley; granddaughter Laurie Kratz, of Atlanta, Ga.; grandson Brian Nymeyer and his wife, Carla, of Fort Atkinson; and two great-grandchildren, Nicholas Kratz and Sadie Nymeyer.
