Aug. 10, 1942-Feb. 22, 2009AMES— David R. Hornung, 66, of Ames, passed away Sunday, Feb. 22, 2009, at the Select Specialty Hospital, Gulfport, Miss. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 27, at the Church of the Open Bible, 408 College Ave., Iowa Falls, with Pastor Herb Kenyon officiating. Burial will be at the Union Cemetery, Iowa Falls. A time of visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Linn’s Funeral Home, 1521 Washington Ave., Iowa Falls.
David Ralph Hornung was born Aug. 10, 1942, at Hubbard, the son of Grace E. (King) and Ralph G. Hornung. He attended the Alden and Iowa Falls Community Schools. David served several tours with the U.S. Army. David was an over-the-road truck driver for Roadway for more than 30 years.
David Hornung is survived by his wife: Erin L. (Eggers) Hornung of 311 21 St., Ames, IA 50010; his children: Kelly Hornung of Pass Christian, Miss., Kimberly Weddle of Bay Saint Louis, Miss., Elaina Hornung of Pass Christian, and Ben (Missy) Hornung of Diamond Head, Miss.; one granddaughter: Ruby Hornung of Pass Christian; his mother: Grace Hornung of Iowa Falls; his sister: Connie (Bill) Anderson of Pass Christian; and his brother: Ronald (Kathleen) Hornung of Iowa Falls.
He was preceded in death by his father: Ralph Hornung.
