Pioneer at Britt Dies
Britt - Funeral arrangements are incomplete for Catherine Weiland Greenwaldt, 95, a pioneer of the Britt vicinity. She died Friday night at a nursing home in Mason City following an extended illness.
Services will be held at the Methodist Church in Britt and burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. The Rev. R. M. Bell will officiate and the Boughton Funeral Home will be in charge.
Mrs. Greenwaldt was born June 2, 1861, at Essen Germany, and came to Ackley when she was 18. In 1884 she was married to Henry Weiland and they farmed northwest of Britt for many years. He was a former county supervisor. Weiland died in 1921 and she was married to Calvin Greenwaldt in 1939. He died in 1940.
Children who survive are Mrs. Ray (Helen) McNitt, Mason City; John Weiland, Austin, Minn.; Harry Weiland, Clear Lake; Mrs. George (Bess) Heimendinger, Clear Lake; Mrs. Ed (Nellie) Robinson, North Platte, Neb.; William Weiland, Britt; Henry Weiland, Britt; Mrs. Aaron (Caroline) Stussey, Algona; Mrs. Clyde (Nina) Brooks, Tampa, Fla.; Mrs. Philip (Blanche) Wilson, Pierre, S. D., 20 grandchildren, 60 great grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
