Thomas O'Rourke, retired farmer, dies at Britt
Britt - Thomas O'Rourke, 75, died Saturday of a heart attack in the Hancock Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church here. The Rev Justin Kane will officiate. Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery with Boughton Funeral Home in charge.
Born Nov. 1, 1884, near Britt to John and Elizabeth McGruder O'Rourke, he farmed most of his life on the same farm where he was born. He retired to Britt in 1940. He had been in failing health five years. He was married Aug. 2, 1905, to Margaret Horstman. He was a livestock dealer and a former director of the Britt Creamery.
Surviving are his wife, four sons, Cecil, Leon and Warren, all of Britt; Leslie, Forest City; a daughter, Mrs. Lester (Lavonne) Benner, Hollandale, Minn.; 18 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Mike (Eizabeth) Molley, and Mrs. Art (Hazel) Westbrook, Minneapolis. He was preceded in death by six brothers and four sisters.
