Cory Dean Shields, 23, of Britt, died on Friday, January 21, 2005, at his home near Britt.

Cory Dean Shields, the son of Jeff and Debbie Shields, was born on December 23, 1981, in Creston. The family moved to Britt in 1990. He attended the West Hancock High School where he was active in golf, wrestling and baseball. He graduated from West Hancock with the class of 2000.

Following graduation, Cory was employed by Prairie States Management Company as a manager of swine production.

Cory enjoyed hunting, fishing, 4-wheeling, spending time with Megan and his friends and talking on the phone with his sister, Morgan. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Britt.

Survivors include his parents, Jeff and Debbie Shields of Britt; a sister, Morgan Shields of Mason City; very special friend, Megan Eno of Mason City and her parents, Jack and Cheryl Eno of Sheffield; grandparents, Harvey and Dorothy Shields of Thayer and Orlin and Angie Berger of Grand Forks, North Dakota; great-grandmothers, Florence Mosman of Creston and Mrs. Henry Dovark of Grafton, North Dakota.

Also surviving are his aunts and uncles, Jon Shields of Lorimor, Julie and Gary McFarling of Clive, Sandy and Steven Sand of Emerado, North Dakota, Gary and Margo Berger of Emerado, North Dakota, LaVerne and Elizabeth Berger of Emerado, North Dakota; 12 cousins; and numerous friends.

He was preceded in death by great-grandparents, Chester Mosman, Lucille Shields, Ingvald and Pearl Berger, Steve Rudnik, Sr. and Henry Dovark; and a cousin, Ryan Shields.
