Auty Griggs of Fort Collins, Colorado, formerly of Britt, died on Tuesday, March 7, 2006, at the Golden Peaks Care Center, Fort Collins, Colorado. She was 98.
Funeral services for Auty Griggs were held on Friday, March 10, at the United Methodist Church in Britt. The Rev. Robert Dodge officiated. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery in Britt. The Ewing Dugger Funeral Home of Britt was in charge of the arrangements.
Auty was born on February 9, 1908, in Liberty, Kentucky and moved with her family to Britt, at the age of 2.
She married John Griggs in 1932 and they farmed northwest of Britt. After her husband's death in 1984, she lived in Britt until 1995 when she moved to the Prairie View Apartments in Garner. She moved to Fort Collins in 1998.
She is survived by daughters, Patricia (Donald) Okland of Fort Collins and Betty (Gordon) Fortier of Loveland, Colorado; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Ruby Farris of Mason City.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers and three sisters.
Memorial contributions will be forwarded to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
