Auto Careens Into Tree 26 Year Old Farmer Killed
Clarence Jackson Accident Victim
A 26 year old Kanawha farmer and father of three children was killed instantly about 8 p.m. last Wednesday when his car went out of control and skidded 145 feet across highway No. 111 and struck a tree.
He was Clarence "Bob" Jackson who lived on a farm southeast of Britt.
The tragedy happened as Jackson was on his way to town to have a tractor radiator repaired. He was heading west on the Klemme-Corwith road and according to Hancock county Sheriff L. M. Brower it appeared that Jackson put on his brakes suddenly in loose gravel while going at a high rate of speed.
The car careened across the highway crashing into a tree in the corner school yard. Jackson received a fractured skull and according to the county coroner died immediately.
The body was found shortly after the accident by Jerry Larson, an Iowa Highway Commission employee, who drove past.

Funeral services were held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the Joe Meyer home and 2:00 p.m. at the St. John Lutheran church at Corwith with the Rev Norman Langholtz, pastor of the Corwith church, in charge.
Burial was made in Evergreen cemetery at Britt with honors being given by the Stith-Delger Post of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Kanawha. Chaplain Arnie Stuflick offered prayer following Rev Langholtz. Committal taps were blown.
