Conduct Rites of Mrs. Grell

84 Year Old Woman at Garner Succumbs Following Illness

Garner - Last rites for Mrs. Amelia Grell, 84, a resident of the Garner vicinity for the last 57 years, who died at her home Friday night following a lingering illness, were held at the St. Paul Lutheran church Monday afternoon with the pastor, the Rev. H. R. Wrede, in charge.

Mrs. Grell was born Sept. 9, 1856, in Germany and came with her father and three brothers and two sisters to America in 1872. She was married to Carl Grell in 1875 and 10 children were born to the couple, seven of whom survive. Mr. Grell, two infant daughters and one son, Carl, a World War veteran, preceded Mrs. Grell in death.

Surviving are seven children; Mrs. Herman Jass, Mrs. Emil Kraus and Ferd Grell, all of Garner; Adolph, Ernest, and John Grell, all of Clear Lake; and Herman Grell of Mason City. A brother, Theodore Schultz of Ventura, and a sister, Mrs D. Carsten, as well as 29 grandchildren and several great grandchildren, also survive.

The Carl W. Bohn funeral home was in charge of the arrangements. Burial was made at Concord cemetery.
