Mrs. J. S. Foster died at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. W. S. Flannery, four miles northeast of Britt, Friday, March 5th, 1897.

Mrs. Foster was born in Pike county, Kentucky, March 26, 1827. She was married August 15, 1847, to her now bereaved husband. To them eight children were born, five sons and three daughters, of whom all but one are living. She lived in Kentucky until 1884, when she came west to Illinois. Two years ago she moved with her husband to Lyon county, Iowa. She was here visiting her daughter and son when death came.

She was sick but a few days, but had a presentiment before she came here that she would never get back home. She united with the M. E. church about fifty four years ago. She lived a faithful christian life and looked forward with joy and peace to the life beyond.

The funeral services were held at the M. E. church Sunday at 2:30 p.m., Rev. O. K. Maynard having charge of the services. The interment was in Evergreen cemetery.
