FUNERAL FOR HARM RUST, 77, HELD AT GOODELL ON MONDAY
DIED FRIDAY MORNING AFTER ILLNESS LASTING OVER EIGHT YEARS.

Goodell—Harm Rust, 77, long time resident of this community, died at his home here at 5:30 o’clock Friday (July 7, 1944) morning after a long illness.
Mr. Rust, son of Mr. and Mrs. Heiko Rust, was born Nov. 24, 1866 in Germany, and was the eldest of 10 children. When five years of age he came to the United States with his parents, settling near Ackley. He lived there until he was 21 when the family moved to this locality, where his parents farmed northwest of town.

Harm Rust was united in marriage to Miss Margie Reemsthma (Reemtsma) of Ackley, Dec. 14, 1893, and with their family lived on their farm a half mile north of town, until 13 years ago when they moved to town to the Charles Conklin home which the purchased.

About eight years ago, Mr. Rust’s health failed him and at that time he submitted to a surgical operation from which he never fully recovered. He was able though to attend to the business of his farms until a few months ago when he became worse and was confined to his home, being cared for by his two daughters.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Ruth (Mrs. Clyde Cunningham) who died Oct. 5, 1929, and by his wife who died Sept. 20, 1937.

He is survived by two daughters, Anna (Mrs. Herman Brunes) and Elsie (Mrs. Albert Carolus) both of this community; two sons, George Rust at home and Albert Rust who is employed near Ackley; eight grand children, Roberta Ruth Cunningham of Greeley, Colo.; Belva Brunes, Mason City; Ethel Brunes, Belmond; Annalea and Stanton Brunes, Goodell; Margaret, Leroy and Harlan Carolus, Grano, N.D.; and Mrs. Maggie Jacobs, Cumberland, Wis.; two brothers, George of Kanawha and Heiko Rust of Perham, Minn.

Funeral services were held from his home Monday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock and at 2 o’clock from the United Brethren church with the pastor, H. R. Knight, assisted by Mr. Rust’s two cousins, the Rev. Albert Rust of Corwith and the Rev. Ben Rust of Britt, officiating.

Music was furnished by the mixed quartet of the church, with Mrs. Knight at the piano. The Rev. Albert Rust sang a solo, “It is Well with My Soul.” Pallbearers were Wm. Schlichting, L.W. Wesenberg, W.F. Beier, Charles Conklin, O.F. conwell and Warner Butts. Interment was in the family lot in Amsterdam Cemetery.
