Ex Corwith mayor dies at Rochester

A former mayor of Corwith, Wallace C. Woodbury, died Monday at Rochester, Minn. He was 67 years old and served as mayor of Corwith for 18 years.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at St. John's Lutheran church at Corwith with the Rev. James Wente officiating. Burial was in the Corwith cemetery with military rites conducted by the American Legion post.

Mr. Woodbury was born at Franklin, Minn., attended schools at Marietta, Minn. and was married to Inga Skavang at Aberdeen, S. D. in 1917. He served at Chateau, France during World War I and he served as an agent for the Chicago Minneapolis and St. Louis railroad until retiring in 1962.

The couple lived at Parker, S. D. from 1917 until 1935 and since that time, had lived at Corwith.

He is survived by his wife; four sons, Wallace of Silver Springs, Md.; Wendell, Alexander, Va,; Maynard, Arlington, Va.; and C. Wayne, Joplin, Mo. There are also 11 grandchildren.

Two sisters and two brothers, none from the immediate area also survive.
