C. R. Wood, 77, Former City Engineer, Succumbs

Clear Lake - C. R. Wood, 77, 522 7th Ave. N., died early Wednesday evening at a Clear Lake nursing home. He had been in poor health since suffering a stroke in February.

Charles Rufus Wood had been employed as engineer and office manager for the Clear Lake Sanitary District since the spring of 1953. He had lived in Clear Lake for about 40 years and during that time worked as civil engineer. For a number of years he served as city manager.

Mr. Wood was born March 9, 1880, at Rock Island, Ill., the son of Charles R. Wood and Linne Houk Wood.

He is survived by his wife, Laura; two sons, Charles R. Wood Jr., Andrews, Tex.; and Thomas D. Wood, St. Paul, six grandchildren and one sister, Helen W. Rundle, Berwyn, Ill.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at the Wilcox Funeral Home.

WOOD, C. R., 70, 522 7th Ave. N. Clear Lake, died early Wednesday evening at a Clear Lake nursing home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Wilcox Funeral Home, Clear Lake. The Rev. H. E. Trimble, pastor of the Christian Church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Britt.
