Rites Thursday for Meinders at Garner

GARNER - Funeral services for John Meinders, 81, will be held, at the Bohn Funeral Home in Garner at 3 p.m. Thursday with the Rev. Trevor Baskerville, pastor of the First Methodist Church, Garner, in charge. Interment will be in the Concord Township Cemetery at Garner. Meinders died here on Sunday evening.

John Meinders, the son of John Meinders and Caroline Stockman, was born at Cincinnati, Ohio, on Jan. 2, 1875. He grew up in the vicinity of Milan, Ind., later coming to Iowa where he was engaged in farming in Jackson and later in Hancock County. He was a well known stock man. He came to Garner in 1948 and has lived here since.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Violet Ruger, Ventura, and Mrs. Rosella Webner, Garner; two brothers and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
